Boots

I’m a massive fan of Dr. Martens Boots, I wear them pretty much everyday. It wasn’t until I brought my second pair after a few years of wearing my first that I notice how much wear and tear that the first pair had. Reluctant to chuck these worn out boots I reminessed how much apart of me and of life’s turmoils these pair of boots got me threw. so began my journey through painting boots and trainers began. I tried to show different values of not just of the footwear but of the person wearing them.

This was my first use of Acrylic paints as a primary medium. I did a lot of exploration on this medium during this series of painting. I began to fall in love with the vibrance of the colour and how versatile acrylic paint was and challenged it with various types of surfaces.

Part of the journey was what to use as a base to paint onto. I began using various found materials such as newspaper, parcel paper, old walking maps and comic books. I would use anything that would help sell the idea of the possible characteristics of the person wearing the boots.
