My Monotony
My Monotony is a series of lino prints that I produced during lock-down. They resemble the way we, as a society, were disconnected, disjointed, separated and chopped apart from each other.
Hands play an important part in communication and living without the simplicity of connection through human touch made us all feel a little bit odd.
Lock down also brought many of us a range of different emotions. For myself, to be labeled as non essential for society cut pretty deep. The label alone devalues any human to be regarded as trash, useless, unimportant. I suffer from depression and anxiety, so forcing me to live alone, without human contact sent me downwards.
During the second lock down I created these lino prints to express those uncomfortable feeling. One of boredom, monotony, worry, disconnection and loss.
